I have a wedding this January at the chic urban venue Marvimon in downtown Los Angeles and thanks to the friends that I have on Coordinator's Corner, I was able to come shadow the fun Jeannie Ward of Wedding Jeannie at one of her weddings yesterday so I could learn some of the ropes at this tricky space. Outside the venue the four fires surrounding Los Angeles were blazing and raining ash down on the city, but inside the walls was a cool, calm, tranquil, zen feeling and the weddding went off beautifully. We did have a few snags due to the fires: the minister could not make it through the traffic in time and the owner of the catering company had to evacuate her home and also could not make it. Thankfully the DJ was ordained** and performed the ceremony, and the caterer had a fantastic staff to run the show without her. Before our bride Cynthia even knew of the potential disasters at hand, the top notch vendors had a "Plan B" already rolling in order make the wedding happen.
It was great to be able to work this space before Heather and Matt's wedding in January--I feel like I know what to expect, look for, and do in order to make the day a smooth one. Congratulations, Cynthia and Pancho, and thank you Wedding Jeannie for allowing me to be a part of your day!
**NOTE TO SELF: get ordained!
